What people see in the comp class when they look at me:

My teammates when they haven’t eaten in the past three hours:

Getting around the day after squat day:

Getting put in de la Riva guard by someone with long legs:

“What should I do when he’s got this sleeve but I’m holding his arm here and my leg is wrapped around like this, but I’m also holding his belt, and my hips are rotated like this and the lapel is wrapped three times around his neck. Also I think he was trying to armbar me.”
“Do you get in this position often, [white belt]?”
“Only once, I think it was something like that anyway. Maybe it was different.”

“Okay guys, make a partner, judo throw warmups!”

My reaction to everything on Friday after training three times a day all week:

When a white belt starts getting spazzy with me:

1. So many good images in this post. It definitely brightened my day.
2. That panda has a pretty nasty de ashi barai.
That’s always how I feel trying to do foot sweeps of any kind. My teammates aren’t so into finesse with their judo warmups, so they frequently end up just muay-thai kicking at each other…
