It’s SO COLD. WHY.

Getting onto the mats the morning after the temperature dips into “subfreezing” territory:

When a new guy calls me out in sparring:

Trying to look girly after getting overwhelmed by testosterone:

When my teammates start complaining about how sick they are:

When the timer goes off and I’ve just sunk a deep choke on someone I rarely tap out:

When one teammate farts in another’s face:

Trying to escape from a super-heavyweight’s side control:

My teammates when it’s time to go eat:

Trying to suggest a new place to eat lunch:

The general response:

After Jack 3D and dubstep:

Teaching the kids:

When guys who have no grappling training tell me they could beat me on the mats:

What I really want to say to that one guy (not the one above):

When another pair gets too close in sparring:

How I feel about my teammates on Monday:

How I feel about my teammates on Saturday:

  1. hahah Love the panda gif.

It know how cold/warm it feels is all relative but…it’s -18 degrees F with the windchill where I am, so….yeah…I doubt it’s actually that cold there….

San Diego isn’t the coldest place I’ve ever lived, but the miserable thing about when it’s cold in San Diego is that it NEVER gets cold here, so the buildings are designed to be cool and drafty. Instead of going inside and getting warm (like you can on the East Coast) you go inside and stay chilly all day. And add in sweaty gis and flu season and it’s just an all-around unpleasant experience.

I don’t pretend to be good about the cold (I’ve got a core body temp that’s almost a degree and a quarter below normal) but there’s nothing comfortable about San Diego when it drops below forty degrees.

Ah, interesting. Is it a problem that it is *also* cold in the summer because people like to blast A/C?
That is very common up here and it drives me crazy!!

I think it might be a common thing among smaller women. My 5’2″ best friend has to start wearing booties (the shoe slipper things) in the house when October rolls around. She just gets cold faster than the rest of us.

But below 40 in San Diego? That’s crazy.
